RV Furniture Repair, Upholstery & Seating Upgrades

Comfortable, quiet RV furniture makes long days on the road feel easy. Peeling “faux leather,” collapsed foam, loose captain’s chair bases, or a jackknife sofa that rattles can spoil a trip.

Traveling RV Technicians (TRVT) provides mobile furniture repair, upholstery, foam replacement, seating swaps, dinette rebuilds, and mounting/clearance corrections. We tune comfort and structure, add power and USB-C where you sit, and make sure everything clears slides and locks down safely for travel.

Full Furniture Assessment & Common Problems

We start with a structured check of seating, mounts, and pathways:

  • Peeling vinyl / polyurethane delamination, seam failures, or thread rot

  • Collapsed seat cushions, tired springs, sagging backs

  • Loose pedestal bases, crooked swivels, worn sliders or recline mechanisms

  • Theater seating that won’t power, stuck toggles, broken pull cables

  • Dinette tables that wobble, rockers that squeak, sofa beds that bind

  • You get a written plan with causes and fixes—material, hardware, and labor—before we begin.

Captain’s Chairs & Cockpit Seating

Driver and passenger seats should be supportive and quiet:

  • Rebuild armrests, tighten swivels, replace bushings, and re-center tracks

  • Add or repair seat heaters, lumbar, and power recline (12-volt feeds with proper fusing)

  • Replace cracked pedestal bases or upgrade to heavy-duty swivels with lock detents

  • Correct seat height/tilt and arm geometry for long-drive comfort

  • Inspect seat belt anchors; through-bolt with proper backing plates where needed

  • A solid cockpit keeps you fresher and reduces squeaks over rough roads.

Dinettes, Tables & Smart Workspaces

Your dinette should be stable and useful:

  • Rebuild booth dinettes with stronger cleats, new hinges, and noise pads

  • Convert booth to free-standing table + chairs or compact desk

  • Install Lagun table mounts for swivel/height adjust and leg-free foot space

  • Add locking slides for pull-out leaves and printer/laptop drawers

  • We tighten hardware, square frames, and shim floors so tables don’t wobble.

Reupholstery Materials That Last

Reupholster with materials that handle heat, sun, and pet use:

  • Ultraleather® / Ultrafabrics®, Naugahyde®, and marine-grade vinyls

  • Performance woven fabrics (stain-resistant, bleach-cleanable options)

  • Sunbrella® and solution-dyed acrylics for fade resistance

  • Double-stitched seams, UV-stable thread, and hidden stress panels

  • We color-match trim, bind edges, and replace foam so seats look factory—but wear better.

Foam Density, Springs & Comfort Tuning

Comfort starts inside the cushion:

  • Replace tired foam with high-resilience cores (density/ILD matched to seat type)

  • Layer gel or latex toppers for pressure relief; add fiber wrap to soften edges

  • Repair webbing/springs; add lumbar pads or bolsters for posture

  • Quiet rocking points with UHMW pads and felt isolators

  • You choose firm, medium, or plush—we dial it in and document the recipe.

Mounting, Anchors & Floor Reinforcement

Furniture must be secure yet serviceable:

  • Through-bolt pedestals and sofa bases with large-area backing plates

  • Add aluminum angle or steel plates where OEM particleboard is weak

  • Blue threadlocker, proper torque, and labeled access points for future service

  • Confirm seat-belt anchor paths to structure (never to furniture only)

  • A safe mount prevents rattles, loosening, and floor damage.

Power, USB-C & Lighting at the Seats

Modern seating needs power—done right:

  • Run dedicated 12-volt feeds for recline motors and seat heaters with correct fusing at the power distribution centers

  • Add USB-A/USB-C PD ports (20–65W) in arm consoles or bases

  • Provide 120-volt outlets on GFCI-protected circuits for massage/lift chairs that use AC adapters

  • Route cables through grommets and loom; label at the breaker panel; control voltage drop on long runs

  • Clean wiring keeps comfort features reliable and quiet.

Slide-Out Paths, Doorways & Swap Logistics

Getting big pieces in and out is half the job:

  • Measure slide travel paths and heights; protect trim and flooring

  • Break down assemblies (backs off recliners, arms off sofas) for tight turns

  • Remove/install through the entry—or, when necessary, through a side window with proper protection

  • Balance weight distribution and confirm slide capacity after upgrades

  • We leave no scuffs, and the room still closes cleanly.
