RV Door Repair, Replacement & Seal Upgrades

A solid, quiet RV door keeps weather out and trips stress-free. Sticking entry doors, leaky baggage doors, rattling screen doors, or a pocket/bath door that jumps its track all point to issues in alignment, hardware, or sealing.

Traveling RV Technicians (TRVT) provides mobile door diagnostics, hinge and latch repair, lock/keyless upgrades, window swaps, seal/weatherstrip replacement, and full door replacements. We square the frame, correct striker/hinge geometry, replace worn parts, and reseal the perimeter so doors close with a clean “click” and stay dry on the highway.

Entry Doors: Alignment, Striker & Threshold

Entry doors take the most abuse. We:

  • Re-hang and shim the frame, set reveals, and torque hinges to spec.

  • Align the latch and deadbolt with the striker plate so the door closes without slamming.

  • Level and seal the threshold; add drip caps to redirect water.

  • Replace bent hinge pins or upgrade to continuous (piano) hinges on heavy doors.

  • Proper geometry stops wind noise, water wicking, and premature latch wear.

Baggage & Compartment Doors (Slam Latches & Struts)

Storage doors must seal and stay shut in motion. We:

  • Replace slam latches, cylinders, and worn key-alike cores.

  • Fit new gas struts/hold-opens and friction hinges so doors don’t crash in wind.

  • Install new bulb/D-seals and adjust cam bars for even pressure.

  • Reseal frames with butyl and urethane; add drip rails where water tracks.

  • Dry compartments mean longer life for gear and electrical components.

Seals, Weatherstripping & Wind Noise

The right seal stops leaks and hiss:

  • Replace bulb seals, D-seals, wiper seals, foam tape, and door sweeps sized to your gap.

  • Add drip caps and corner blocks to close wind paths.

  • Prep with solvent, set with the correct adhesive, and roll for full bond.

  • Seal fasteners and seams with butyl + polyurethane, not just caulk.

  • Result: quieter cabin, less dust, and no water trails after rain.

Hinges, Frames & Panel Repair

When doors sag or skin delaminates, we rebuild rather than mask:

  • Upgrade to continuous/piano hinges or heavy-duty leaf hinges.

  • Straighten or replace bent frames; add hidden reinforcement where screws won’t hold.

  • Re-skin damaged doors (aluminum/FRP), replace rotten cores, and re-bond skins.

  • Square jambs and add proper backing so hardware stays tight.

Locks, Deadbolts & Keyless Entry

Security and convenience can live together:

  • Service/replace TriMark, FIC/Global Link, Bauer, RVLock assemblies.

  • Install keypad/keyless latches with interior release; wire 12-volt power neatly with correct fusing.

  • Set key-alike cylinders across all baggage doors.

  • Adjust deadbolt throw and striker depth to stop partial-engagement failures.

  • You get smooth keys, reliable remotes, and doors that actually lock.

Door Windows, Blinds & Privacy

We replace fogged or cracked door windows and add privacy without bulk:

  • Tempered window units (clear, tinted, or frosted) with fresh butyl and new trim rings.

  • Integrated blind kits (Thin Shade-style) that drop in without rattles.

  • Egress-rated openings and safety film where required.

  • Everything seals tight and looks factory.

Interior Doors: Pocket, Barn, Bi-Fold & Shower

Inside doors should glide and stay quiet:

  • Re-rail pocket doors, replace rollers, and set soft-close catches.

  • Tune barn door hangers and floor guides so panels don’t sway.

  • Rebuild bi-fold pivots and add positive-latch hardware for travel.

  • For shower doors, we replace seals/sweeps, align magnets, and reseal tracks to stop drips.

Entry Door Sensors, Steps & Courtesy Lighting

Entry doors tie into other systems. We:

  • Replace/aim the door jamb switch that controls electric steps and courtesy lights.

  • Fix step logic so the door position is read correctly (no surprise retractions).

  • Add low-draw LED courtesy lights at the handle/step, fused and labeled at the power distribution centers.

  • Clean wiring prevents nuisance trips and short circuits.
