RV Sink Repair, Replacement & Sealing
A solid, quiet RV sink makes daily life easier. Cracked acrylic basins, loose basket strainers, leaks at the P-trap, or a wobbly pull-down faucet turn simple chores into messes.
Traveling RV Technicians (TRVT) provides mobile RV sink repair and replacement, undermount/drop-in installs, drain and trap fixes, counter cutouts, faucet swaps, and watertight sealing. We match the right material to your galley or bath, set drains and seals correctly, and leave a labeled system that runs clean on city water or tank/pump.
Assessment & Common Problems
We start with a quick inspection and a written plan. Typical sink issues:
Hairline cracks in acrylic/ABS bowls; chips around faucet or sprayer holes
Basket strainer leaks, warped gaskets, or loose locknuts
Low or gurgling flow from clogged aerators or scaled cartridges
Drips at P-traps, flattened slip-joint washers, or dry traps after storage
Countertops swollen at the rim from failed sealant
Rattling sinks and hoses that rub during travel
You’ll see cause → fix along with material, hardware, and labor options.
Sink Types & Best Uses in RVs
Pick the right bowl for the space and weight budget:
Stainless steel (18–20 gauge): durable, heat-safe, easy to clean; ideal for galleys.
Composite granite/quartz: quiet and scratch-resistant; needs correct support and sealant.
Acrylic/ABS: light and affordable; good for lavatories when braced.
Lightweight solid-surface bowls (paired with Corian®/HI-MACS® tops): repairable and seamless when bonded.
Single vs. double bowl: single for small galleys; offset double when dishwashing/food prep need separation.
We confirm sink depth and cabinet/slide clearances before we cut.
Drains, Traps & Venting (No Smells, No Puddles)
Fast drains need proper geometry:
New basket strainers with metal body/gasket sets; torque to spec—no cracked bowls.
Correct-height P-traps or HepvO® waterless traps where space is tight (won’t slosh dry while driving).
Replace failed AAVs (air admittance valves) and clear roof vents to stop gurgling.
Slope horizontal runs (~¼″ per foot) so gray water carries food particles away.
This stops weeps, slow drains, and sewer odor.
Faucets, Sprayers & Soap Dispensers (Integrated Right)
Sinks and faucets work as a system. We:
Install pull-down/pull-out faucets with braided supplies and real metal quick-connects.
Add side sprayers or soap dispensers using blanked accessory holes or new cutouts (sealed and grommeted).
Set GFCI protection for any nearby 120-volt outlets and keep hose loops away from sharp cabinet cuts.
Label shutoffs for fast isolation and winterization.
Cleaner installs, fewer leaks, easier service.
Countertop Cutouts, Supports & Vibration Control
RVs flex; sinks shouldn’t:
Template and scribe cutouts to fit laminate, solid surface, butcher block, or composite tops.
Add hidden rails or angles under heavy composite or deep stainless bowls.
Use threadlocker on clips/fasteners, rubber isolation pads under bowls, and foam collars where hoses pass through cabinetry.
Your sink stays quiet and solid over rough roads.
Water Lines, PEX Fittings & Flow
We keep pressure steady without leaks:
PEX-B/PEX-A with crimp/clamp/expansion to spec (no mixed methods on one joint).
Short braided supply lines to isolate vibration; no hard bends that kink.
Clean routing with grommets and clamps every 18–24″; label hot/cold at the manifold.
If flow is weak, we check aerators, cartridges, pressure regulator setting, and pump output before blaming the sink.
Full flow at the furthest fixture proves the fix.
Galley Upgrades: Covers, Racks & Waste Handling
Make the galley work harder:
Cutting-board covers and roll-up drain racks to extend counter space.
Deep bowls with radius corners for easy wipe-down.
High-flow strainers with removable baskets; no household disposers (weight, power, and plumbing risk).
Optional filtered-water taps with proper air-gap where required.
We tailor the workstation to cooking style and tank size.
Bathroom/Lavatory Details (Compact & Clean)
Small lavs need careful choices:
Short-reach spouts to avoid splash; compact single-hole or 4″ centerset faucets.
Pop-up drains that actually seal; metal where possible.
HepvO traps for shallow cabinets; vent checks to prevent odor.
Silicone seams at the backsplash and rim; smooth transitions for easy cleaning.
Quiet, dry, and easy to maintain.
