RV Window Shades, Blinds, Motorized repairs and Upgrades.

The right RV window coverings control heat, glare, privacy, and noise—while riding quiet on the highway. Buzzing valances, frayed day/night shades, crooked roller shades, or a sagging cockpit curtain are all fixable.

Traveling RV Technicians (TRVT) provides mobile shade repair, restringing, roller conversions, cellular/blackout upgrades, curtain/track installs, and 12-volt motorized systems. We measure, mount to RV substrates correctly, and tune tension so shades glide smoothly and stay put.

Assessment & Options (Heat • Privacy • Weight)

We start with a quick plan matched to how you camp:

  • Solar control: reduce glare and UV while keeping views.

  • Blackout & privacy: bedrooms and front cab.

  • Thermal: cut heat gain/loss at large panes and slide windows.

  • Ease of use: cordless slow-rise rollers, restringed pleated shades, or powered controls.

  • You’ll see fabric choices, openness factors, mount styles, and what fits your wall type and trim.

Roller Shades (Solar & Blackout)

Modern RV roller shades are quiet, durable, and easy to clean. We install:

  • Solar rollers (1–10% openness) to block heat/glare without going dark.

  • Blackout rollers for full privacy and sleep.

  • Dual roller day/night combos on one bracket.

  • We size tubes correctly, set slow-rise tension, square brackets, and add fascia or valances so the install looks factory.

Cellular (Honeycomb) Shades for Insulation

Cellular shades add real thermal performance and a softer look:

  • Single, double, or blackout cells for heat and light control.

  • Side channels for minimal light bleed.

  • Compact headrails that clear slide facings and cabinet doors.

  • We choose fabrics that won’t wrinkle in heat and mount them with metal clips for service access.

Curtains, Tracks, Valances & Cornices

Some windows need fabric, not just a roll:

  • Blackout curtains on traverse or glide tracks with positive travel locks.

  • Cockpit curtains with center magnets and overlap for true darkness.

  • Valances/cornices rebuilt with new foam, fabric, and silent mounts.

  • Tie-backs and hidden snaps that won’t rattle.

  • Everything is cut, hemmed, and labeled to ride quietly.

Windshield & Front Cab Sun Control

We tame the big heat source up front:

  • Windshield shades (thermal privacy curtains or roller systems) with trimmed tracks.

  • Removable dash covers to limit UV and dash cracking.

  • Side glass solar film or interior shades for glare.

  • Front solutions drop interior temps, protect upholstery, and help the air conditioner keep up.

Motorized & Smart Shades (12-Volt)

One touch, no cords:

  • 12-volt DC motorized rollers with wall switches, keypads, or remotes.

  • Integrations with Firefly, Spyder, Silverleaf (where supported) for scenes and lockouts.

  • Hidden wire routing with proper wire gauge, loom, and fusing at the power distribution centers; labels at the breaker panel.

  • We set limits, test loads, and document the circuit so future service is simple.

Child/Pet Safety & Travel-Day Details

  • Cordless conversions or tensioned cords with compliant retainers.

  • Pet-resistant screens and low-mount privacy panels.

  • Positive travel locks so free-standing shades and curtains don’t wander.

  • Egress windows stay clear and open easily—safety first.

Mounting to RV Walls (It Has to Hold)

RV walls are thin (luan, Azdel, FRP). We mount the right way:

  • Metal clips into backing, rivnuts, or hidden furring strips where screws won’t bite.

  • 3M VHB only with proper prep—and always with a mechanical backup on heavy pieces.

  • Square to trim, avoid slide rub, and maintain screen/egress function.

  • Result: shades that don’t loosen or buzz after a hot day.
