RV Closet Repair, Wardrobe Upgrades & Storage

A quiet, sturdy RV closet keeps clothes neat and trips stress-free. Doors that jump tracks, closet rods that sag, bowed shelves, or a slide-out wardrobe that binds will rattle your nerves and your coach.

Traveling RV Technicians (TRVT) provides mobile closet repair, refacing, organizer installs, lighting/USB power, washer/dryer prep, and moisture control. We reinforce boxes, tune doors and latches, add smart storage, and label wiring so your wardrobe is solid, bright, and easy to use.

Closet Assessment & Common Problems

We start with a full check and a clear plan. Typical issues:

  • Sliding or mirrored closet doors off-track, chipped guides, or loose rollers

  • Bi-fold/pocket/barn doors out of square or rubbing trim

  • Closet rod sockets cracked; rods bent; shelves bowing under load

  • Rattles, squeaks, or latches that pop open on rough roads

  • Musty odors, water stains, or cold walls causing condensation

  • Wardrobe slide facings catching carpet or binding on travel

  • You’ll get the cause, the fix, and options to upgrade.

Structure: Boxes, Cleats & Mounting That Lasts

Lightweight cabinetry needs real support. We:

  • Add marine-ply corner blocks, pocket screws, and adhesive upgrades

  • Through-bolt hang rails to framing; use wide-bearing washers

  • Replace weak cleats with hardwood/aluminum angle for shelf support

  • Re-skin loose backs and tie cabinets into floor/wall structure

  • This stops flex, squeaks, and cracked fasteners.

Rods, Shelves & Organizers (Use the Space)

We install heavy-duty closet rods (oval aluminum/chrome) with metal sockets and center supports; convert to double-hang where height allows; and add adjustable shelves with metal pins. Smart add-ons: pull-out baskets, shoe racks, tie/belt organizers, fold-flat hampers, hat shelves, and cubbies. Everything is anchored and labeled for real travel loads.

Drawers & Pull-Outs Inside Closets

Nothing beats full-extension access. We add soft-close undermount or ball-bearing slides (75–100 lb), jewelry drawers, safe drawers, pull-out laundry, and tray shelves for sweaters. Tracks are shimmed parallel, latches are rated for motion, and clearances are checked against slide rooms and doors.

Lighting, Power & Controls (No More Dark Closets)

We brighten closets with LED puck lights or low-profile strips and motion sensors. Need charging? We add USB-A/USB-C PD and, where appropriate, a GFCI-protected 120V duplex for irons or combo units. All wiring uses correct wire gauge, heat-shrink terminals, and clean grounds to prevent voltage drop. Circuits are labeled at the fuse panel, breaker panel, and power distribution centers.

Ventilation, Odor & Moisture Control

Musty smell or condensation on cold walls? We track leaks, seal penetrations, and add vent gaps or louvered doors for airflow. Options include quiet 12-volt fans, desiccant trays, and cedar panels for odor control. Where stains exist, we dry the cavity, replace wet insulation, and treat surfaces so moisture doesn’t return.

Washer/Dryer & Utility Closets

We prep washer/dryer closets (Splendide/LG combo): vibration isolation, reinforced bases, drain pans, venting, and dedicated circuits. We confirm clearances, hose routing, and lint paths, and we keep service access for valves and traps. Electrical ties into rv electrical systems with correct protection and labeling.

Slide-Out Wardrobes: Alignment & Travel Locks

Wardrobe in a slide? We square the box, reset tracks, and verify Schwintek / rack-and-pinion clearances so doors won’t rub during travel. We adjust floor rollers, replace worn guides, and add positive travel locks. Trim and gaskets are reset so carpet and thresholds survive repeated cycles.
